Outdoor Christmas photo sessions in Hemel Hempstead; In October and November I run a number of outdoor days as I get a lot of requests for images for Christmas gifts and cards. This year I met with a record 18 families!! So rather than blog every single session I thought I would post a mixture of some of the images. Enjoy 🙂

Last month I ran a day of outdoor sessions in Hemel Hempstead and Elizabeth contacted me for a session for her, and her extended, family. The family included her sons and daughters and it was also an opportunity to get photos of the 5 grand children.
It had been threatening to rain all week but we were really lucky and at the last moment it cleared up. As I work a lot outdoors, I try to make sure that even if we have light rain on the day of the shoot, we have options. At this location we had a barn area and a forest which is so well covered we wouldn’t get wet.
The grandchildren were 4 boys and a girl, and the boys were at that age where having their photos taken is so “not cool”. We took a relaxed walk through the woods so they could get to know me a bit and then we stopped to take some photos. Once the boys got into the swing of things they were great and we got some lovely natural portraits of them just laughing and smiling. You can also see an example of a frame design I supplied for the family
I’ve known Sarah and Steve for years (19 actually..boy that has made me feel old!) as we went to University together in North London and I was her bridesmaid. Sarah is a great friend and pretty much got me through Uni so I am forever in her debt! Sarah is NOT keen on having her photo taken, but I took some for her on the fly last year and she liked them so she felt a bit more comfortable booking a full session with me. Sarah’s mum and dad had travelled up from Eastbourne and Steve’s parents, brothers and sisters were also at the house as Steve’s parents were heading back to Hong Kong that evening. It was a great opportunity to get an up to date group photo and it was made even more fun with the addition of the 4 grandkids. We had a BBQ in the day (they always do great chicken!) and then waited for the sun to get a bit lower before we went ahead with the session. Some of my favourite images are below and I especially love the kids, who cracked up the whole time.
Well its been a busy month and I haven’t had a chance to blog all of my outdoor family photo sessions from July. This was the third session of the day with 2 gorgeous kiddies who smiled and were so happy for our entire session. The family even bought their dog and would you believe he even sat in for the photos. We started off at the top of the Boxmoor Trust park forest and went through the woods in search of the Gruffalo. We didn’t manage to find him but we did find his house at the edge of the woods and the kids had a great time exploring 🙂
I’ve been looking forward to this date for a while…I have a few very good friends, which I have made through my photography, and we decided to go down to Greenwich for the day to get together and take some photos of the kids.
We had 6 kids with us in total so we spent most of the day losing one, stopping another one from going down some steps they werent meant to, to eventually trying to stop them all jump in the water which was cascading over the barriers from the Thames – it turns out it was high tide :-). These shots were taken in and around Greenwich University http://www2.gre.ac.uk/ which is a collection of stunning buildings right on the water. After a couple of hours chasing the kids around we headed to a nearby pub for drinks and crisps and then headed home… Such a great day and one to be repeated soon! Some of my favourite photos are shown below. Hem
