Harpenden family photo session – a styled shoot
I met Fiona through Facebook as we have a friend in common, and we had spoken about an outdoor photo shoot when the weather started to pick up. I was really looking forward to meeting her, and her 3 children, and she suggested she bring some props along to the session. I really love working with families who bring ideas to the table and knew it was going to be fun….
We met at the entrance to the woodland and walked about 10 minutes to the perfect first location. Fiona’s husband had the task of carrying the props and he did a sterling job! We decided to photograph lots of different set ups and also to include some natural shots of the girls playing, so she had lots to choose from. The first images were using some gorgeous umbrellas that Fiona had found and the girls were fantastic – complete naturals in front of the camera.
We then walked a bit further into the forest and the girls were great at spinning for me and smiling to the camera.
The next styled set up was a lemonade stand with some gorgeous wooden boxes and real lemons and lemonade for the girls. We also brought in baby brother for a few photos…
My typical outdoor photo sessions usually last between 1 to 1 and a half hours and as the session neared the end we started to get that gorgeous golden sunlight I had hoped for.
Finally, to end the photo session we took some images of the girls together – can you tell which is the cheeky one?
Thanks to Fiona for making the session so fun and different to what I would normally shoot, it was a real pleasure meeting you and your family 🙂 Nina
