Family photographer in Berkhamsted
Last week I had the pleasure of photographing the P family in an outdoor woodland shoot. They were looking for relaxed, fun images of them and the kids and I suggested a local woodland where I know the light is lovely. The kids were on brilliant form and loved playing around and exploring in the woods. We spend some time taking photos of the family together and then let the kids look around while I took some of Mum and Dad together. I always suggest that parents have a photo without their children, as often the last one they had taken was on their wedding day! Below are just a small selection of the final images supplied to the family to give you a taste of what to expect from a photo session with Nina Mace Photography. One of my favourite shots was taken right at the end of the session and is shown last. It was getting a little cold and I gave Dad my blanket to wrap his daughter up in. I think that is an image they will treasure for a long time to come.

One of my favourite ways to work with families is to have an indoor/ outdoor photo session. I photographed this family in Berkhamsted, and suggested we start at home so I could get to know the boys a little better, before we headed outdoors.
I started off in the boys rooms, just chatting about what kind of things they liked, getting them to show me around their room and it turns out they both loved reading. They sat down on the bed and got their favourite books out.
We then ventured into the youngest rooms and he showed me his cot. The light was gorgeous and he also stood and waved to the trains going past…too cute!!

We then took a few relaxed family potaits in their living room (which has great light as Mum uses it for photographing newborns) and I love how the kids are laughing

I also wanted to try photographing some kind of family activity, and we decided baking could be fun!. Mum (who actually is a keen baker and photographer herself) was more than happy to let the boys get a little mucky.

After we hosed the boys down we went in search of welly boots so we could head outside. While we were locating big brothers socks (how is it that they always lose one??) Mum sat down with the youngest for a cuddle and a story.

Welly boots and socks located. we wrapped up and headed to a local park and along to Berkhamsted Canal for a few final images.

I really enjoyed working with this family. and as Mum is a photographer too, we chatted lots about lenses/ light which I love! If you would like to see Rachel’s new-born work you can visit here .
