What a great end to the year! The Guild of Photographers www.photoguild.co.uk, ran a portrait competition in November. All of my customers who were photographed in November were entered into the competition and 3 independent judges were selected to choose one of my images to go onto the National final. The 3 judges were Lauren, from Cake Stories by Lauren, an amazing cup cake maker and party supplier https://www.facebook.com/cakestoriesbylauren, Ruth from Hippity Hop Shoes in Berkhamstead https://www.facebook.com/HippityHopShoes and Gwen Blake, founding Director of Boxer & Co a design and packaging agency https://www.facebook.com/boxerandco.
The winning image was chosen and they received a free Canvas from Yellow Sprout https://www.facebook.com/Yellowsprout. And to my delight I was then called by the Guild of Photographers to say that my image had been chosen as the National Winner and had won £1000 worth of wall products! The family are so pleased and you can see the winning image above.

I was really pleased to have won another 2 Silver Bars with the Guild of Photographers (www.photoguild.co.uk) this month. Both of these images were taken on my outdoor Christmas mini sessions at one of my favourite locations in Hemel Hempstead.
One of the best parts of being a photographer is you get to meet families and see them grow up. I met Laura when I very first started my business, and I photographed her youngest daughter who had just been born. She had this brilliant mop of hair which stood up like a mini Mohican 🙂 Well I have been lucky enough to photograph this family 3 times now and I love it when I get the email to say that they want to book their “annual photo session with me”.
My friends Gwen and Steve left the UK a few years ago to pursue their dreams of living in Australia. Every year they come back in the Summer and we all meet in a pub for the afternoon to catch up. Gwen had just had her little girl so I was really excited to meet her, and she asked while they were back if I could take some photos. Gwen’s been a huge supporter of my business and I love chatting to her as she also runs her own business (or 2) in Aus. I follow her businesses closely and its exciting to see the incredible headway she has made with her packaging design and branding company https://www.facebook.com/boxerandco. My favourite image, by a mile, is the out take of Samson poking Steve in the eye…sorry I couldn’t help but include it guys. Missing you already and cant wait to see you again next year xx
You may remember I ran a competition in the Summer to win a free outdoor family portrait session. I had a huge number of entries and the winner was also lucky enough to also win cupcakes from Cake Stories by Lauren (visit her Facebook page here ) and shoe vouchers from Hippity Hop Shoes (visit the shops Facebook page here). The cupcakes were given to Zoe on her actual session and I had 10 minutes to take some photos of them before they arrived…how great do they look? (and they taste great too I will tell you from personal experience :-))
The session took place at one of my favourite locations in Hemel Hempstead – a local forest which has gorgeous fields around and board walk running through the trees. There is also a little house on the far side made from logs which we call the Gruffalo’s house.
Some of my favourite images from the session are shown below – Don’t forget to like my Facebook page to be kept up to date with my next competition due to launch later this year! Nina
