Sadly the Summer holidays are at an end BUT the good news is we are just about to move into one of the most stunning (and busy!) seasons for professional photographers in the UK. I have returned from my break refreshed and re-energised with the intention to be more organised and thoughtful about what I want to achieve on a daily basis.
Therefore I thought it would be useful to share my FREE downloadable Photographers Daily Planner which I created, plus some of my top tips for refreshing your social media ahead of this incredibly busy season.

They say “You CAN have it all, you just can’t have it all at the same time” and this really rings true for me as a mum, wife, and business owner. Therefore, its important to me that I continue to better understand how many hours I have I really have to dedicate to my photography business and to set my goals accordingly.
In the last year I have moved over to a daily/hourly planner and now write in all my non-negotiables (walking to school with my children, evening activities and clubs, going to the gym, food shopping and general housework, meetings with builders etc) to understand more clearly how many work hours I have available. Some days this can be as little as 1-2 hours so I must prioritise my to-do list and anything that cant be done in that time is moved later into the week. It’s a very similar system I used many years ago in Marketing when I had a Franklin Planning system.
I have created a FREE PDF of my planner ( which you can download below) and I would encourage you to print off 5 for next Monday to Friday and spend half an hour planning your week and what you aim to deliver.

1. Review the photos across the landing page of all of your socials and website.
If you were a new visitor to your facebook page, Instagram feed or website, would the images you see be a reflection of your most recent work? Also are the images now Autumn based rather than Summer? I would propose showcasing images which are a real reflection of what you love to shoot and will speak to your ideal customer. Also, whilst its lovely for us to see the evolution and growth of our work, it’s maybe not something potential clients need to see. Take some time to go back and delete old images which are no longer a real representation of your photography an editing style.
2. Update your Social media profile descriptions
When was the last time you updated your profile descriptions? Is what you have written still relevant and do all the links still work?
3. Look at the best time to post new content and schedule the posts for that time
Hootsuite recently conducted a survey using their substantial database and discovered that the best time to post on Facebook is between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and on the weekends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. The best time to post on Instagram is from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday. Why not plan your posts now and schedule them for the times suggested to see how this impacts the reach and engagement?
4. Review who you follow and what groups you are in!
Facebook can be like quicksand – you go in and never come back out! Sometimes we follow pages and are in groups which are not adding any value or getting us any closer to delivering our business goals. Why not take 15 minutes to review where your time is spent and why not remove yourself from any groups which are a distraction?
5. Review your recent posts for their reach and engagement
Look at which images or content did the best and try to analyse why. Was it a combination of time of day or was it that the content or image itself was so good it gained momentum? If you can understand the success then you can work to replicate it in future posts.
